Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, the bassist for the influential band Korn, made a notable revelation during his recent appearance on the Basement Talk podcast regarding his hiatus from the group.
“I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019,” he admitted. “So its like were just kind of both they’re truckin’, Fieldy explained further. Theyre a machine, going strong, he added, marveling at his former bandmates continued success.
When questioned about the relationship between Korn’s members, Fieldy responded affirmatively: “Yeah. Its cool to see them keep on going,” he stated. “Im just chillin’ out and kicking it.
A key figure in Korn from their inception in 1993, Arvizu was a constant presence throughout the band’s history, contributing basslines for all of their studio albums including the multi-platinum hits Follow the Leader (1998) and Issues (1999). In June 2021, however, he announced a hiatus from Korn to focus on personal issues. “I will be working towards getting these bad habits out of my system,” he wrote in a statement at the time.
The bassist’s absence led to Suicidal Tendencies’ Ra Daz stepping in as a temporary replacement for his duties with Korn. Despite their separation, Arvizu is still listed as the bands official bassist on recent releases like 2022s Requiem.
Around four months after his hiatus announcement, Fieldy released an online video addressing some initial misconceptions about his “bad habits.” He denied that these habits were related to drug use, clarifying: I’ve never tried cocaine; I’ve never touched heroin. All I drink is Bud Light, man, he stated.
Fieldy also addressed the dynamics within Korn in this video: “Theres no beef between us,” he reassured his audience. “Theyre killing it right now and that’s all there is to say.
In conclusion, Fieldy continues to maintain a connection with his past as part of Korn while focusing on personal growth. He remains an integral figure in the band’s history, even from afar.
