Despite not starring in the blockbuster Smurfs movie, Cardi B and DJ Khaled have contributed their talents to its soundtrack. The “Wish Wish” collaborators joined forces on Friday (February 21) to create the track “Higher Love.” Related: Rihanna’s Smurfette Makes Her Debut in First ‘Smurfs’ Trailer Featuring New Cardi B Date: February 06, 2025

“Higher Love” features vocals from Desi Trills Natania and Subhi. The track samples Belinda Carlisles iconic anthem “Heaven Is a Place on Earth,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1987. Cardi B, known for her typically raunchy rhymes, takes a more family-friendly approach with this song although it’s possible she might be taking a shot at her ex-partner Offset.

In the lyrics, Cardi raps: “Everybody need love and I need some too/ Diamonds look sad ’cause each one blue,” before referencing Belinda Carlisles hit. She continues with: Make heaven on earth, bae, I think you’re perfect / Sweet like dessert but do you deserve it / Think about me, Im on your mental.

DJ Khaled shared his excitement for the collaboration in a statement. He expressed that he feels this is a full-circle moment because he grew up watching The Smurfs and now has children who also enjoy the show. “I remember always watching the Smurfs,” said Khaled. It’s inspiring to work alongside Cardi B, Natania, and Subhi on ‘Higher Love’ for this monumental movie soundtrack.

The Smurfs blockbuster is set to hit theaters across the U.S. on July 18, with Rihanna voicing Smurfette.

2025 promises to be an eventful year for both Cardi B and DJ Khaled. Cardi has announced that her much-delayed sophomore album will arrive soon, while Khaled is set to release his Aalam of God album.
