Uncover the Surprising Story of How Bruce Springsteen Learned about Hank Azaria’s Tribute Band

Hank Azaria recently appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan, where he shared updates about his Bruce Springsteen tribute band, the EZ Street Band. The Friends actor expressed excitement over receiving approval from “The Boss” himself.

“I’m from Queens,” Azaria joked to his audience. “Queens is just like Asbury Park but less water.” He went on to imitate Springsteen, reminiscing about early hero worship and the profound impact that listening to Bruce had as a teenager.

When asked if Bruce knows about the band, Azaria revealed an amusing anecdote. His friend—a dentist in New York City—texted him with instructions for sending their favorite video of the band. Azaria shared “Thunder Road” without realizing Patti Scialfa would be watching on his end.

Despite a bit of initial apprehension, Springsteen and Patti were impressed by the loving tribute to Bruce’s music. Azaria made sure they knew that all proceeds from their performances went towards charity.

Azaria expressed hope for future collaborations with Springsteen, stating, “That’s one of our goals.” During his appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, he even performed a cover of the 1985 hit “Glory Days,” embodying Bruce’s look and sound.

The EZ Street Band is currently touring throughout the spring. Azaria encouraged fans to check out their tour dates and ticket information on the group’s website. Additionally, you can watch his full interview from Live with Kelly and Ryan below.
