Lizzo made a stunning appearance at The 2024 Met Gala, celebrating “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 6, 2024. Lizzo is currently embarking on a new chapter in her career as she prepares to drop a new music teaser for an upcoming project titled “Love in Real Life.” The preview, shared on Monday (February 24) via Instagram, opens with an aerial shot of Grammy-winner Lizzo lying unnoticed on the hood of a vintage white car amidst passing pedestrians.
The cinematic clip transitions from a sustained violin and synth chord to bright electric guitar strums. Rapid-fire shots follow as Lizzo dances through cobblestone streets alongside a group of dancers, some of whom experience distorted facial appearances. “Everything was so much simpler, and that’s exactly what I need,” she narrates. “No views, no likes. Real love. In real life.”
The video then cuts to February 28, the release date for “Love in Real Life.” Lizzo first hinted at her upcoming project about ten days earlier with a similar teaser showing her crying heavy sobs that turned into manic laughter while someone played flute warmups off camera. She captioned this clip on February 14: “Everything was so much simpler.”
Before revealing “Love in Real Life,” Lizzo marked the end of her previous era by sharing a video where she spray-painted the phrase, “Bye, bi—!” in red over a poster print from her Special album cover. She even used this artwork as her Instagram profile picture for a period before replacing it with a faded, watermarked version.
“Love in Real Life” is Lizzo’s first proper release since 2022’s Special, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts. The album featured “About Damn Time,” her two-week Hot 100 top hit that won record of the year at the 2023 Grammys.
