On January 7, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, The Rock made a significant announcement during NXT: New Year’s Evil at The Shrine Expo Hall. He shared the groundbreaking news that WrestleMania 42 would take place in New Orleans in 2026. Before delivering this exclusive information, the self-proclaimed Final Boss performed his new entrance theme song featuring Louisianas favorite son, Lil Wayne.
The Rock’s new theme is a captivating mash-up of Waynes hit 1999 song The Block Is Hot, which originally featured his rap group The Hot BoysB.G. and Juvenile. This isn’t the first time The Rock has collaborated with hip-hop royalty; in 2000, he worked with Wyclef Jean on It Doesnt Matter, incorporating a clever play on his famous catchphrase “It doesnt matter.” Later that same year, The Rock delivered an intricate verse for Tech N9nes song Face Off.
Lil Wayne has remained a constant presence in WWE since then. At WrestleMania 40 the previous year, he accompanied popular Superstar Jey Uso into Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. There, they performed a dynamic mash-up of Wayne’s Billboard Hot 100 hit A Milli alongside Usos entrance theme song “Main Event Ish.” Speaking to Billboard earlier in the same month for their Sports & Music issue, Uso expressed his admiration for Wayne: “We all grew up on Wayne in the late ’90s and early 2000s. Im talking about when he was with The Hot Boys and all that. Its crazy how life comes full-circle.”
Before their performance began, Uso persuaded Wayne to wear some of his merchandise: “He was real dope and cool with everything,” shared Uso. “I asked if I needed anything from him, and I said, ShC, brother. Can you wear these YEET glasses for me? Here, put these on.”
