Tina Knowles Reacts to Beyoncé’s Grammy Win for Album of the Year with Surprise and Pride

Tina Knowles was spotted on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” airing February 24, 2025 in Burbank, California with guest host Jennifer Hudson.

Earlier this month, Beyoncé made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards by winning her first Album of the Year award for “Cowboy Carter.” Her reaction to the win was widely shared and turned into a meme. Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, was equally surprised by the victory.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” Tina recalled on The Jennifer Hudson Show. She described being at Beyoncé’s house during Grammy day and sitting with her grandchildren Rumi and Sir when she received the news. “For a second there, we were just sitting there and when she did this [looks around shocked], I said, ‘It’s real!’”

Tina also praised her granddaughter Blue Ivy for showcasing musical talent by participating in Beyoncé’s dance routines on stage. She described Blue as “a bossy little Capricorn like her grandma.”

When asked about whether she might follow in her mother’s footsteps, Tina said, “I don’t know because Blue is a jack of all trades. She can do so many things. We don’t know because she’s only 13.”

Tina also mentioned that Beyoncé and Blue have a close relationship and often give each other advice without involving her.
